ESCAPES SERIOUS INJURY IN GRANDVIEW FREEDOM 76

The most
prestigious race on the annual calendar at Grandview Speedway was held
this weekend with the running of the 39th annual BPG Racing Freedom 76.
Six-time track champion Craig Von Dohren started eleventh in the 34-car
lineup and was challenging for the lead in just fifteen laps. With twenty
laps in the record book CVD was going for the lead in a three-wide
situation heading down the backstretch. As the cars entered turn three
Craig and another competitor made contact, sending Von Dohren's #1C
machine hard into the outside retaining wall and up into a fence post. The
impact literally stopped CVD's machine on impact. After a few quiet
moments CVD emerged from the scene and walked away under his own power.
Following the incident CVD complained of minor neck pain and was sore, but
otherwise OK. CVD was credited with 28th.
